It may not be obvious how the collaboration came about between Different Planet and Getting on Board, a charity that supports people across all demographics into trusteeship as well as helping other charities to recruit and retain a diverse board.
The collaboration came about as a result of the challenges Head of Different Planet (Ri Iyovwaye) encountered in establishing an inaugural board for a not-for-profit he founded called Solar Power Aid (SPA) – www.solarpoweraid.co.uk
During the process of seeking trustees Ri came across Getting on Board and sites the oragnisation as being very helpful and responsive in terms of aiding SPA appoint its inaugural board.
The realization of the difficulties associated with recruiting trustees ignited the desire to do something to help address the situation.
Getting on Board was receptive to the idea of collaborating and ‘Routes into Trusteeship’ was born.
It is hoped this initiative will make a meaningful contribution to increasing the diverse pool of candidates those establishing not-for-profit organisations can call on.
